Unremarkable Days
Complete scenes, one frame each. A street, a square, a bank, an afternoon. The catastrophe is behind, and the person in front of it is checking something else.
Not every picture belongs to a series. These are whole scenes, each one finished inside its own frame.
They are built the same way as the rest of the work: composed like a photograph somebody would be glad to be in, and then one thing is left inside the frame that should not be there. Nothing raises its voice. The viewer is the one who has to say it.
Two of them are titled, in the artist's own hand, An Unremarkable Day and A Pleasant Afternoon. That is the joke the group is named after: whatever is happening behind them, the day is being filed as ordinary.
