A surrealist digital painting of a man in a suit sitting on a black street bollard, looking at his glowing phone. Behind him, masked robbers flee a grand building with bags of money as a guard lies on the steps amidst gunfire.

The Modern Stylite

A surrealist critique of modern apathy, where figures of privilege find refuge in digital distraction while the world around them collapses.

This Digital Art Series, currently comprising 3 core works, re-imagines the ancient Stylite ascetics for the 21st century. The series operates at a symbolic frequency of 2.4 GHz—the pervasive frequency of Wi-Fi—to critique the isolating nature of our digital world. Here, the 'pillar' is not one of stone but of privileged detachment, built from the glowing screen of a smartphone. The Modern Stylite sits absorbed in his digital bubble, wilfully ignorant of the crises unfolding just beyond his reach—be it catastrophic climate change, violent social breakdown, or the human cost of mass consumerism.
